Safety Tips & Resources
Palm Beach State College has an excellent record of providing a safe and secure environment for students, personnel and visitors. Each individual should also take every precaution to be safe.
Armed Safe Campus Officers
Palm Beach State has hired Team JAI as Armed Safe Campus Officers. These armed officers are responsible for active assailant
prevention and intervention in addition to their duties as campus safety officers.
They patrol the campus providing safety and security for visitors, students, faculty
and staff. Guardians respond to emergency situations and take appropriate action in
accordance with Florida laws.

On campus, call Campus Safety at 561-868-3600 when you feel unsafe in any situation. Dial 911 in an emergency situation.
- Share your class/activities schedule with parents and a network of close friends.
- Maintain situational awareness. Pay attention to people and circumstances around you.
- Keep your hands free and not overloaded.
- Do not openly display money or valuables while walking in public.
- Do not leave personal property unattended or unprotected in libraries, labs, classrooms or other common spaces. Always secure your belongings.
- Don't wait until the next day to report suspicious or dangerous situations - report
them immediately.
Walking To/From Your Car
Campus Safety will provide you with an escort to your car upon request.
- Park your vehicle in a well-lit area and have your key in your hand. Once in your car, lock your doors immediately.
- Avoid walking alone at night or taking "shortcuts". Use the buddy system.
- When approaching your car, use the "long view" angle to glance beneath the vehicle; take a few seconds to look around; and before getting in, look in the front and back seats.
- Be sure to always lock your car and don't leave valuable items laying on the seat or floorboard.
- If you are being followed, go to the nearest area where there are other people or where you can receive help or call Campus Safety at 561-868-3600.
