Program Overview
Palm Beach State College's Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging prepares students to lead the future of health care. As you learn advanced imaging techniques, management skills and body anatomy, you'll acquire skills to become a certified medical imaging technician.
Students choose to specialize in six concentration areas:
- Computed Tomography (CT) (Code: BS S801A): Learn the precise technology that combines X-rays and computer technology to diagnose various conditions.
- Adult Echocardiography (Code: BS S801B): Engage in echocardiography, essential to treating heart-related concerns.
- Interventional Radiology (IR) (Code: BS S801C): Advance your career as a radiographer. Students learn methodology and radiology information systems.
- Leadership (Code: BS S801D): Hone management expertise and learn how to influence policies and medical imaging across sectors in this fully online track.
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) (Code: BS S801E): Develop an understanding of MRI technology, useful in detecting issues in the body's tissues and organs.
- Mammography (Code: BS 801F): Learn the essential technology of mammography and sonography to detect issues in the breast.
Program Details
- Admission requirements:
- Florida licensure in Radiologic Technology
- Associate degree in a medical imaging specialty with minimum 2.5 GPA. Refer to the Course Catalog for which degrees are accepted for your preferred concentration.
- Certification from an accredited medical imaging organization. Refer to the Course Catalog for which credentials are accepted for your preferred concentration.
- Location: Online coursework and in-person clinical specialties at local hospitals
- Credits: 120
- Program Length: Two years
- Start Terms: Fall, Spring and Summer
