Grievance/Appeal Process

Most student concerns with faculty stem from misunderstandings about expectations and can often be resolved by speaking with a department chair or dean. However, if the issue cannot be resolved through those channels, students may choose to escalate their concerns. In such cases, they should begin the following process:

Center for Student Accessibility Manager Review

  • The student should notify the manager of their campus Center for Student Accessibility of their complaint.
View the Department Directory to find the manager on your campus.
  • The manager will meet with the student to discuss their concern, including any relevant details necessary to conduct a review.
  • The student will be given a timeframe for a response and an explanation of the resolution.

Student Development Director Review

  • If the student is not satisfied with the resolution provided by the CSA manager, the student may escalate their concern by submitting a Student Problem Resolution Form to the Student Development Director.
  • The Student Development Director will review the student’s complaint and the Center for Student Accessibility Manager’s report, as well as contact others mentioned in the student’s complaint.
  • The student and the Student Development Director will meet to discuss the matter.
  • The student will be given a timeframe for a response and explanation of the resolution.

Dean of Student Development Review

  • If the student is not satisfied with the resolution provided by the Student Development Director, they may contact Karline Prophete, Dean of Student Development.

Compliance Officer Review

  • If the student is not satisfied with the resolution provided by the Dean of Student Development, they may contact the Director of Human Resources & Compliance, Juanita Benjamin, at 561-868-3111 or benjamij@pbsc.edu.
