Medical coding translates complex diagnoses, procedures and health care services into standardized alphanumeric codes that play a role in quality improvement and accurate health records. Palm Beach State College's Medical Information Coder/Biller College Credit Certificate (CCC) prepares students to apply these coding principles to support billing, reimbursement and data reporting processes.

Through applied coursework, you'll gain experience with coding classification systems, health care software and insurance processes. You'll also build a strong foundation in anatomy, pharmacology and health information management while applying ethical and regulatory standards in coding practice.

Graduates are prepared to pursue industry-recognized medical coding certifications and enter the workforce. This certificate also provides a pathway to advance your career through PBSC's Associate in Science in Health Information Technology.
