Law enforcement officers can diversify their career through Palm Beach State College's Law Enforcement Officer Cross-Over Training to Florida CMS Correctional Basic Recruit Training Program. This Career Certificate Program (CCP) transitions law enforcement officers into correctional officers, preparing them to maintain safety and support rehabilitation in correctional facilities.  

Through a blend of classroom instruction and simulated activities, you'll learn new skills associated with correctional career positions. You'll learn to respond to incidents and emergencies, oversee intake and release, conduct interviews, report writing and more.  

Successful completion of this program qualifies you for the state exam for corrections officers. You can also pursue further education right here at Palm Beach State College.

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Pass the corrections version of the Basic Abilities Test (BAT)
    • Must be Florida-certified Law Enforcement Officer
  • Location: On-site at Lake Worth campus
  • Clock hours: 223
  • Program length: 14 weeks (evening, part-time)
