Palm Beach State College's Law Enforcement Officer Career Certificate Program (CCP) prepares students for entry-level employment in a law enforcement agency. Through a blend of both hands-on and simulated activities, plus classroom instruction, you'll develop the foundational skills to become a valued law enforcement officer.
This program, offered by PBSC's Criminal Justice Institute, is commonly called the police academy or basic recruit academy. It follows mandates set by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission (CJSTC). Applied coursework equips students with fundamental knowledge in law enforcement, including patrolling, types of crimes, report writing and more. You'll engage in physical training and gain skills in defensive tactics, firearms and vehicle operations.
As you train both physically and mentally, you'll develop the confidence to serve communities and protect citizens. Recruits who successfully complete the CCP program are prepared and qualified to take the state certification exam. They can also pursue further education right here at Palm Beach State College.
