Program Overview
Palm Beach State's Corrections Officer Career Certificate Program (CCP) prepares students for entry-level employment as correctional officers. This comprehensive program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training to develop the skills to maintain the safety and operations of correctional facilities.
This program offered by PBSC's Criminal Justice Institute is commonly called the corrections academy. Applied coursework teaches you the fundamental aspects of correction officers' job duties, such as report writing, inmate supervision, emergency response and communication skills. You'll also learn practical skills for law enforcement, including how to use firearms, first aid, defensive tactics and safety procedures.
Real-world simulated activities help students develop confidence and readiness for the job, aiding incarcerated individuals rehabilitate and reintegrate into life. By preparing you for industry certification, this program is a stepping stone towards a meaningful career in law enforcement.

- Pass the Basic Abilities Test (BAT)
- Pass the Physical Agility Test (PAT)
