Palm Beach State College's Electric, Hybrid and Alternative Fuels Vehicle Technician Career Certificate Program (CCP) equips students with expertise in hybrid and electric vehicle (HEV/EV) systems — the future of transportation. 

Through a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on lab experience, you'll gain foundational and advanced knowledge of HEV/EV and alternative fuel systems. Comprehensive coursework covers high voltage safety, batteries, electric motors, power electronics and additional key mechanical facets of the automotive field.

As you learn automotive electrical and electronic systems, diagnostic procedures and modern vehicle technology, you'll be prepared to safely service alternative fuel and HEV/EV vehicles. This program is a route to industry certification, preparing students to be leading technicians of hybrid, electrical and alternative fuel vehicles.

  • Location: On-site at Lake Worth campus
  • Clock hours: 850
  • Program Length: 33-week daytime program or 47-week evening program
  • Start Terms: Spring 2027 (evening program)

  • Step 2: After you attend an information session, you may apply to the program by selecting Program Code 5213 for the Electric, Hybrid and Alternative Fuels Vehicle Technician CCP when you fill out PBSC's application on the Admissions webpage.
  • Step 3: Meet with a Trade and Industry advisor.
  • Step 4: Meet with program director.
  • Step 5: Take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) exam if not exempt from TABE testing.
