Program Overview
Palm Beach State College's Diesel Systems Technician 1 Career Certificate Program (CCP) prepares students for entry-level employment servicing bus, truck and diesel engines, as well as mobile heavy equipment, construction equipment and industrial trucks. Students develop hands-on, real-world skills in PBSC’s large, professionally equipped repair shop, working with a variety of truck and heavy equipment makes and models. Throughout the program, students earn certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), the industry’s leading certifier of automotive and diesel professionals.

After completing your Diesel Systems Technician 1 certificate, you can:
- Take 10 professional-level ASE certification exams: Medium-Heavy Truck (T2 – T8) and Heavy Equipment (E1 – E3).
- Apply one year of program completion toward the ASE two-year work experience requirement for full professional certification.

- Step 2: After you attend an information session, you may apply to the program by selecting Program Code 5468 for the Diesel Systems Technician 1 CCP when you fill out PBSC's application on the Admissions webpage.
- Step 3: Meet with a Trade and Industry advisor online or in person.
- Step 4: Take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) exam if not exempt from TABE testing.
- Step 5: Make an appointment with the Program Director as the final step.
