Program Overview

Help others look and feel their best through Palm Beach State College's Barbering Career Certificate Program (CCP). In this hands-on program, you'll master the art of barbering, from beard care and precision cutting to hair coloring and skin care. 

Train in a professional salon setting, where you'll learn the latest techniques, salon management, communication skills and barbering law. Through PBSC's on-site barbering services, you'll get to practice your craft on paying clients and other students.

This industry-forward program equips you with everything you need to succeed behind the chair. Students gain real-world experience, preparing them for state licensing and a rewarding career that uplifts people's confidence. 

Program Details

  • Admission requirements:
    • Must be 16 years of age.
    • To receive financial aid, a high school diploma or GED may be required. 
  • Location: On-site at Belle Glade campus
  • Clock hours: 900
  • Program Length: 9.5-month daytime program or 15-month evening program
  • Cost: About $3,700 for Florida residents, plus additional fees and course materials. View tuition details.

How to Apply

  • Step 1: Attend a mandatory program information session.
  • Step 2: After you attend an information session, you may apply to the program by selecting Program Code 5395 for the Barbering CCP when you fill out PBSC's application on the Admissions webpage.
  • Step 3: Meet with a Trade and Industry advisor.
  • Step 4: Take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) exam if not exempt from TABE testing.
