Digital Accessibility
Accessibility is Everyone's Responsibility
Palm Beach State College is committed to ensuring digital accessibility so that people with disabilities can access and use our web content, course materials and all digital assets. Everyone involved in creating, managing or purchasing PBSC’s digital resources plays a role in making this commitment a reality. Our goal is to provide equitable access to digital content for all members of our community, including those with visual, hearing, cognitive and other disabilities.
The ADA Rule on Digital Accessibility
The Department of Justice’s final Title II rule under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that all websites and mobile apps at Palm Beach State College follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These standards ensure that our digital content is accessible to people with disabilities and apply to every part of the College — academic programs, administrative offices, services and more. By April 2026, all web and mobile content, including course materials, must meet these accessibility requirements. This is a big task, and it will take all of us working together to review, plan and take the steps needed to meet this goal.
Introduction to Web Accessibility and W3C Standards
When websites and online tools are designed correctly, people with disabilities can use them without barriers. But many sites today still have issues that make them hard — or even impossible — for some users to navigate.
Improving web accessibility helps everyone. It supports individuals, strengthens organizations and benefits the community as a whole. International web standards guide how to make the web accessible for all.

Our Commitment
As the College prepares for new federal digital accessibility standards, we’ve created the PBSC Digital Accessibility Task Force. Made up of representatives from multiple departments across the College, the task force ensures every audience is considered and supported as we work to meet these important requirements.
In 2025, the Task Force accomplished several milestones:
- Partnered with YuJa Panorama to provide enhanced accessibility support in Canvas for faculty
- Hosted two breakout sessions about digital accessibility on RiSE Development Day, where we shared this Accessibility Resources page available to faculty and staff
- Implemented a standardized process for vendor accessibility compliance
Next, the team will:
- Distribute an accessible email signature template for College-wide use
- Roll out expanded workshops and resources on accessible content creation for faculty and staff
- Continue refining digital content for full compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards by April 2026
