Palm Beach State College Board Policy
Title: Alcohol Policy

Purpose
To establish policies and procedures regarding the consumption of alcoholic beverages on campus and at College-sponsored functions.
Scope
This policy applies to all members of the College community including all faculty, staff, students, contractors, visitors and guests.
Policy
It is the policy of the Board that alcoholic beverages at the College facilities shall be prohibited, except upon the written approval of the President or designee and:
- upon strict adherence to all local, state, and federal laws, and
- when managed by a licensed and insured vendor responsible for serving all alcoholic beverages, and
- state funds are not used to purchase alcoholic beverages or the services to dispense and manage its consumption, and
- events where alcohol is served must also serve non-alcoholic beverages and food, and
- organization or the individual requesting the approval enter into a written agreement that indemnifies and holds the College harmless against any and all claims and expenses that may arise from the use of alcoholic beverages at the College facility, and
- compliance with all procedures associated with this policy have been met.
At off-campus events and activities, alcohol may be purchased and consumed by adults if done in strict compliance with all applicable laws.
Approval will be granted at the sole discretion of the President. No right or entitlement is created by this policy and the President’s decision is final.
Investigation, review and discipline of employees suspected of violating this policy will be conducted by Human Resources in compliance with District Board of Trustees policy. Students are subject to the rules, obligations, and discipline as outlined in the Student Handbook.
Violation of this policy by employees or students is subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination or expulsion. Violation of this policy by persons not employed by or enrolled in the College may result in the issuance of trespass to College campuses, loss of the privilege to use or rent College facilities, or secure College contracts. The College will report all suspected criminal activity to the appropriate authorities and will fully cooperate with any resulting criminal prosecution.
